It would seem that a lot of people were fed up with the pain of Christmas day and wanted to come out on Boxing day for a more appealing sort of pain, as the turnout for years annual PZW Boxing day 10tt must be our best yet.
With myself and Matt timekeeping and Andrew, Richard G and Peter Marshalling (If there were any others sorry I forgot, was having a mare!) we were hoping for a smooth running. However several things were against us from the off.
First problem was that I spent the evening chatting to Mr Jack Daniels, so it meant I got out of bed rather late. Second, Matt had too much Christmas cheer and forgot to put the numbers in order and so it meant we started at 24 and finishing with 100, with a good old 69 thrown in there as well! The third problem was that I was too busy enjoying the Funk Soul tunes coming from my car at the start line and killed my battery, which meant I had to call for rescue in the form of the inlaws! Doh!
The wind felt cold and from all directions, so today wasn’t going to be particularly fast, coupled with some greasy corners here and there.
Luke thought he had this one in the bag, right up until the start line when I informed him that Jake had signed on late and promptly set the fastest time of the day, a story he will tell down Chacewater……
A good number of PZW riders turned out, along with Luke’s mum, Janet whom managed a very respectable time. Big well done to Hari, John, Tristan and Henry for finishing in the top 10 and a special mention to Dale for blasting round on his fixie, good effort.
